ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪੁਰਬ ਤੇ ਛਬੀਲ ਕਿਓਂ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ? ( Why is #Chhabeel organized at Guru Arjan Sahib's martyrdom day ?)

ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪੁਰਬ ਤੇ ਛਬੀਲ ਕਿਓਂ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ?

ਛਬੀਲ ਅਰਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ : ਪਉ, ਪਿਆਓ ,  ਜਲ ਪੀਣ ਦਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ (ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਉ, ਜੋ ਮੁਹੱਰਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਸ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆਸਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ) ( ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼ : ਭਾਈ ਕਾਹਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਭਾ)

ਛਬੀਲ ਸ਼ੀਆ ਫਿਰਕੇ ਦੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੁਹੱਰਮ  ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ | ਕਿਓਂ ਕਿ ਕਰਬਲਾ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਹਜ਼ਰਤ ਹੁਸੈਨ ਤੇ ਓਹਨਾ ਦੇ 70 ਸਾਥੀ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵੀ ਪੀਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ | ਇਸਲਈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਛਬੀਲ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਸੋਗ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ | ਸੁੰਨੀ ਫਿਰਕੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਛਬੀਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ |

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਿਚ ( ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ), ਜਦੋ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੂਰ ਦੂਰਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰ ਗਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਚ, ਤਾਂ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੜ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ | ਕਿਓਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਸਮੇ ਅੱਜ ਕਲ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਡੱਬਾ ਬੰਦ ਗੁਲੋਕੋਜ ( Glucose ) ਪ੍ਰਚਲਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਅੱਜ ਕਲ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਾਤਾਨਕੂਲ (Air Conditioned) ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਸਨ | ਸੰਗਤ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ, ਗੱਡੇ ਤੇ ਜਾ, ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ | ਗੁੜ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਲੋਕੋਜ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਗੁੜ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੀਠਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ | ਇਹ ਇਕ ਆਮ ਜਿਹਾ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖਾਸ ਮਹਤੱਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ |

ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪੁਰਬ ਗਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਵੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਦੁਰਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੜ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ | ਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇਕ ਰਸਮ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ | ਅੱਜ ਗੁੜ ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਸ਼ਰਬਤ ਨੇ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ |

ਸਿੱਖੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਵਿਚ ਛਬੀਲ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਤਮ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ | ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੜੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਮੰਨਣ ਦੀ ਹੈ | ( "ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ " )|

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ( 2016 ) ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਰਾਰਤੀ ਅਨਸਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਤੇ ਝੂਠੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਕਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੇ ਨੂੰਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਰਬਤ ਪਿਆਇਆ | ਤੇ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਛਬੀਲ ਲੱਗਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਈ | ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸਰਾਸਰ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹੈ | ਕਿਓਂ ਕਿ ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਰਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਦਖਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਜ਼ਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ | ਇਸਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਦੁ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਾ ਸਹਿ-ਕਾਰਨ ਵੀ ਸੀ | ਜਦੋਂ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾਸ ਘੇਰੜ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦਪੁਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾ ਉਸ ਸਮੇ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਰਮ ਚੰਦ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ |

ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਲਿਖਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਲਾਇਕੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪਰਦਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ ਸਿੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਝੂਠਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ੨ ਕਰੋੜ ਦਾ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਵੇਲੀ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਵੀ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ | ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਵੀ ਸਰਾਸਰ ਝੂਠ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤੀ ਮਾਤਰ ਵੀ ਸਚਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ | ਇਥੇ ਇਹ  ਵੀ ਵਰਨਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਦਾ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ |

Why is #Chhabeel organized at Guru Arjan Sahib martyrdom day?

#Chhabeel is word from persian language which means : a place where water is served.( Especially which is organized during first 10 days of Muharram: From Mahaan kosh by bhai Kahn Singh Nabha) 

Chhabeel is being observed by Shia Muslims during the month of Moharram. Because in the battle of Karbla, they were not allowed to take water. All 70 persons alongh with Hazrat Hussain were killed thirsty. So, Shia Muslims distribute Chabeel to mourn the memory of their thirsty martyrs. This mourning is not observed by Sunni muslims.

During the period of Sikh Guru's ( Even prior to Guru Arjan Sahib martyrdom)  #Chhabeel was organized ( especially in hot summer) and water with added raw-sugar (ਗੁੜ ) was served to the visitors who come to meet Guru Sahib from distant places (like kabul etc.). At that time there was no packaged Glucose and water with added raw-sugar was a good source of glucose fro visitors. One point to be noted that, at that time there were no means of airconditioned tranport and people either used to walk, use bullock cart or horses as a medium of transportation.  It was a usual practice and holds no special meaning|

Since Guru Arjan sahib's Martayrdom day comes in hot summer season, so anyone who used to come to from distant place used to be served with sweet water with added raw-sugar. Over time, (might be), it became a custom to serve sweet water and raw-surgar is replaced by sweet syrup now-a-days.

Mourning does not have any place in Sikh ideology. Sikh Guru Sahibaan and sikh ideology believes in "obeying the command of timeless God whole heartily" (Tera bhana meetha lagai)

From last year (2016) foolish people without any knowledge of sikh history had started sharing false and incorrect stories about #Chabeel, that Chandu's daughter-in-law was a follower of Guru sahib and she went to meet Guru Sahib in jail, served sweet water to Him. And that was the starting of chhabeel. This story is in-correct and false. In the mougal regime, women were not allowed to visit jail. Along with that, Chandu himself was partly invovled and responsible for Guru Sahib's martyrdom. Chandu's son Karm chand was involved in a battle against 6th master Guru Hargobind sahib and accompanied Bhagwan das gherad who attacked Guru Sahib at sri hargobindpur city. 

Few other authors had also tried to cover Chandu's bad deeds and falsely prove him as gursikh, by writing that Chandu paid the fine of Rs. 20 million ( 2 crore ) by selling his house and other assets to save Guru Arjan Sahib. This story is also completely incorrect and false. Other point worth noting is that Chandu was officer of Jahangeer, and he was in charge of torturing Guru Arjan Sahib.

ਤਪ ਕੀ ਹੈ ?

ਤਪ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ |

 - ਦੇਹ ਦਾ ਤਪ,
 - ਮਨ ਦਾ ਤਪ,
 - ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਪ ।

ਦੇਹ ਦਾ ਤਪ :

ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਪ: ਛੋਟੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਚਲਣਾ,ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਨ ਮਿਧਣਾ।
ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਪ:  ਅਸਥਾਵਰ, ਜੰਗਮ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖਾਵੇ ਨਾਹੀ। ਸਰੀਰ ਸਾਫ ਰੱਖੇ,ਦਾਤਣ ਕਰੇ,ਇਸਨਾਨ ਕਰੇ, ਬੁਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੇ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਰਜ, ਗ੍ਰਹਿਸਤੀ : ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੁਹੇ। ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ।
ਬੈਰਾਗੀ: ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਲਵੇ। ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ।


ਮਨ ਦਾ ਤਪ:
ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰੱਖੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ਲਾਵੇ, ਚਿਤਵਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ।
ਸਵਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸਯਾ: ਸਵਾਸ ਸਵਾਸ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੇ।

ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਪ: ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਣਾ, ਮਿਠੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲੇ, ਭਾਈ ਜੀ, ਮਿਤੱਰ ਜੀ, ਭਗਤ ਜੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜੀ, ਗਰੰਥ ਦਾ ਪਠਨ ਪਾਠਨ ਕਰੇ।

ਉਪਰਲੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਵਹਾਰਕ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਸੋਧਣ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਹਨ ਜੀ।
